Tucker Today attends City Council meetings so you don’t have to.

🍖 Debates on Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q’s drive thru lane

At the recent 5/13 Tucker City Council meeting, they discussed adding a second drive-thru lane to Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q at Northlake Mall. The only other double drive-thru restaurant in Tucker is Chick-fil-A on Hugh Howell Road.

Council members called the plan a “very car-centric design” and expressed concern about traffic congestion and pedestrian safety, but the restaurant reps argued the second lane is needed due to high customer volume.

What are your thoughts?

Other City Council Meeting topics + updates:

  • City Engineer Ken Hildebrandt made his second proposal for the Montreal Road Sidewalk Design Task Order, which was approved. The proposed sidewalk will stretch 5-6 ft wide and provide a safe walkway for pedestrians.

  • Economic Development Manager Jackie Moffo proposed agreements for leased parking with Tucker First Baptist Church and a contract for Downtown Parking Lot Resurfacing, both approved.

Tucker Treasures 💝

We’re excited to share that Tucker Today has partnered with Dekalb County Animal Shelter. Every week, we’ll highlight animals looking for their forever home.

In this week’s edition of Tucker Treasures, we’re featuring Coral Reef. Coral Reef has been at the shelter for 100+ days and is eligible for a free adoption as part of the 100 Club!

Coral Reef (1.5 years old)

“Coral Reef is a sweet, sweet girl who takes treats gently, leans in for pets, walks very well on a leash, and loves toys.

Most of all, she’s a lover and loves love from humans and loves to give it!

When a volunteer uses the word love 5x, sweet 2x, delight and lover 1x to describe Coral Reef, you know this is one special pup.”

Check out her profile here for more details!

Spread the word about Coral Reef to anyone who might be interested in adopting their newest fur baby!
