🐶 Tucker Eyes Crackdown on Sketchy Pet Sales

Tucker's city council is considering an ordinance that would make it easier to shut down unregistered breeders who sell puppies, kittens, and rabbits in public spots. While state law already bans these pop-up sales (as of last summer), enforcement has largely fallen to state officers who have bigger fish to fry. The new ordinance would bring city code workers into the mix.

The push is partly about animal welfare — these sellers often have poor conditions and sick litters — and partly about the cost of overflowing animal shelters. Legitimate breeders and pet owners rehoming animals wouldn't be affected.

The council also touched on the I-285 expansion, which will require Tucker to fork over $1M+ for upgraded bridges on Henderson Road and Northlake Parkway. Council members are pushing to negotiate a payment plan rather than paying GDOT upfront.

🪧 "No Kings" Protests Coming to Decatur and Tucker This Saturday

A third wave of nationwide "No Kings" protests hits this Saturday, March 28, with local events in both Decatur and Tucker.

  • Decatur — Clairmont Lake, 10 a.m.–noon

  • Tucker — Northlake Festival Shopping Center, 3–6 p.m. (estimated up to 30K attendees)

The movement, which protests President Trump's actions since his second term began, has grown significantly — the October 2025 wave drew nearly 7 million participants across 2,700 events. Organizers emphasize peaceful, nonviolent participation and ask that no weapons be brought to events.

More than a dozen protests are also planned across metro Atlanta, including a march to the Georgia State Capitol from noon to 2 p.m.

🅿️ Sherry's Produce Faces Parking Crisis Before Season Opener

Tucker's beloved Sherry's Produce reopens Friday, March 27 — but a last-minute parking dispute could make it hard for customers to visit.

The store's small corner lot has never had much parking. For 28 years, customers used the adjacent Brockett Square shopping center lot without issue. But after Value Village closed in November, the shopping center's attorney contacted co-owner Tina Dorsey to say that arrangement is over — and signs warning of towing have already gone up.

The timing stings. The community rallied earlier this year to help Dorsey and her family raise roughly $300,000 to buy the property. Parking access wasn't on anyone's radar.

"We just didn't think nothing about it, because we've used the parking lot forever," Dorsey said.

City officials sympathize but say it's a private property dispute — out of their hands. Councilmember Roger Orlando suggested exploring nearby rental lots and leaning into delivery orders in the meantime.

Dorsey says the shop will open and figure it out as they go. "We don't really have a choice, so we have to open back up and say a prayer."
