💳️ Tucker City Council Increases Employee Credit Card Limit

The Tucker City Council recently approved an increase in the city's monthly credit card spending limit from $50K to $100K. Don't worry – this doesn't mean a spending spree! Finance Director Beverly Hilton explained that the city rarely even approaches the previous limit, typically spending between $20K to $33K per month.

The change comes after the city was hitting its credit limit too early in each billing cycle. Currently, 18 staff members have purchase cards with individual spending limits ($5K for directors, $1K for other employees). Hilton emphasized strict controls, noting that employees are personally liable for any charges and must submit receipts for every purchase.

Councilmember Virginia Rece pushed for transparency, requesting a detailed discussion about the credit card policy. Hilton assured the council that the purchase cards are primarily used for necessary expenses like athletic supplies, travel, food, and membership dues – especially since many vendors now prefer electronic payments.

Tucker Treasures 💝

Tucker Today partners with Dekalb County Animal Shelter. Every week, we highlight local animals looking for their forever home.

In this week’s edition of Tucker Treasures, we’re featuring Leandros!

Leandros (male) | 2yrs old, 69lbs

“If there was an award given for dog with the best smile, our vote goes to Leandros. Volunteers were super impressed by this handsome boy with the happiest smile you'll ever see.

He is 2 years old and 69 lbs, an energetic, playful pup. He made the cutest playbows when he saw another dog so he may be dog friendly. He also loves running (future jogging or running partner?) and enjoys affection and pets. Leandros would make a fun canine companion. Give him something else to smile about and bring him home today!”

Spread the word about Leandros! Email [email protected] or call 404.294.2165 for more info.

Not sure if you want to adopt? Come take a pup for a fun day with the Dog for the Day program. This program is a great way to borrow a canine companion for a hike, a trip to the park, or a lazy day at home. Email [email protected] for more information.
