 🗞️ December 9th City Council Updates

At its December 9th meeting, the Tucker City Council introduced an ordinance to establish a local permitting process for film productions. While the city has collaborated with the DeKalb Entertainment Commission in the past, the new ordinance would allow Tucker to set and enforce its own regulations, separate from the county’s process.

Mayor Frank Auman explained that this change is needed so the city can address violations, including asking DeKalb Police for help if necessary.

• 👨‍⚖️ Steve Nicholas reappointed as Chief Judge of Tucker Municipal Court for 2025.

• 💡 Downtown lighting and Wi-Fi pilot program launched with 6 new lights and public Wi-Fi along section 1A of the downtown trail. More to come near Tucker Town Green.

• 🚲️ Contract awarded to Pond & Company for $280K to update Tucker's Transportation and Trail Master Plan with plans for pedestrian, bike paths, and roads.

• 🛣️ Engineering design contract awarded to Kimley Horn for $380K to improve 2 intersections on Lawrenceville Highway (Cooledge and Brockett Road).

• 🚽 Restroom construction contract awarded to RGC Construction for $209K (funded by DeKalb County Commissioners) to build 2 restrooms at William McKinley Peters Park.

Want to help children in need this holiday season? Tucker Recreation Center is a drop-off location for Toys for Tots from December 2nd-21st. Bring new, unwrapped toys to donate to the annual holiday drive! Collection boxes will be placed in the main lobby during operation hours.

All donations will go toward spreading joy and making the holiday season brighter for local families. ✨

 🎅 Tucker's North Pole Celebration Brings Community Together

Tucker's holiday spirit was in full swing as the community gathered for a magical evening at the Church Street Greenspace!

From the festive lighting of both the Menorah and Christmas tree to live performances by Tucker Middle School band and the Women's West African Drumming class, the North Pole at Tucker Celebration brought together families for a night of hot chocolate, train rides, ornament decorating, and special visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

This Tucker Parks and Recreation event captured the true essence of small-town holiday cheer! ✨
