🥩 Tucker Meat Market Shuts Down After 11 Years
Tucker's beloved butcher shop and deli has been dark for weeks, with brown paper covering the windows and a cryptic "Temporarily Closed: Building Issue" sign on the door. But it looks like this closure might be permanent.

The property at 2187 Brockett Road was quietly sold in May for $350K, and Andrea Woolf – who ran the popular meat market and burger spot since 2014 – hasn't responded to requests for comment.
The city slapped a red stop-work order on the building, citing code violations like overgrown grass, junk cars, and needed repairs to plumbing and electrical systems. City officials say the business closure and code issues aren't connected, but residents spotted equipment being moved out in late June.
The loss hits hard for Tucker locals who remember the shop's award-winning burgers and quality cuts. With no word from Woolf about relocating, it's looking like Tucker Meat Market may have served its last customer.

🚗 Tucker Hits the Brakes on Drive-Through Crackdown
Tucker City Council was ready to slam the door on new drive-throughs but changed course at the last minute during their July 14 meeting, pushing the decision back to August.
The council had been working on tough new restrictions since February, including requiring drive-throughs to stay at least 150 feet away from residential areas and making it harder to get permits. But when staff threw in last-minute changes and council members realized they didn't have a clear picture of where drive-throughs would actually be allowed under the new rules, they pumped the brakes.
Former council member Anne Lerner, who's running for mayor, spoke against the changes during public comments, warning they could have "unintended consequences for businesses" and push drive-throughs into areas where they don't normally operate.
Other council business:
Marshal's office delayed - Council postponed creating a new department that would cost $200,000 annually plus $202,000 startup costs for security at city events and properties
Parks fees going up - First increases since 2020: summer camp jumps from $500 to $600 per child, gym memberships up $5 across the board
Supporting Milton's legal fight - Council approved filing a brief to help reverse a $35 million wrongful death verdict against Milton that could set bad precedent for Georgia cities
Property purchase extended - Extended closing deadline for two parcels near Montreal Park to complete inspections and due diligence
