Highlights:

• The Tucker Development Authority approved an expansion of the downtown facade program. Effective immediately, any business can apply for assistance to improve their business security: If the business has installed a qualified business security alarm system, the city will match 75% of costs of other security improvements (break- proof / shatter- proof glass, etc.), up to $10K.

• Announced a $10K award for information leading to arrest and conviction of the organizer of Tucker’s downtown break-in crimes.

• The City of Tucker will continue adding security in public areas: cameras, lighting, and other motion-detecting devices.

Tucker Mayor Frank Auman joined the Decatur Dish Podcast this week to discuss updates on Tucker Town Green, the city’s ongoing pickleball debate, local business development, and more.

Highlights:

• Tucker Town Green — Tucker’s signature downtown park — is on track and on budget. Slated to come Fall 2025!

• Downtown Tucker has been selected by the University of GA to be an official game-watching party venue. We will host 3 outdoor watch parties at Tucker Town Green - stay tuned!

• The city will receive new Pickleball court bids in Sept/Oct.

🚨 Two Arrested in May Tucker Shooting

DeKalb County Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in May in a Tucker business parking lot on LaVista Road.

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Lorenzo Tucker. Police arrested 28-year-old Travis Davis in Clayton County and 25-year-old Dontavious Davis (no known relation to Travis). Both suspects face charges of murder and armed robbery.

The investigation remains ongoing.

🎙️ New 1,000-Seat Concert Venue Coming to Tucker

The Londzell Performing Arts Theatre is set to open October 29 in the former Bally Total Fitness space at 3993 LaVista Road, which has sat vacant for over a decade.

Owner Londzell Hardy, a Roswell-based entrepreneur and musician, aspires to attract major acts like John Mayer and Alicia Keys to perform multiple nights at the 1,000-seat venue. The 30,000-square-foot space will host all musical genres and features futuristic finishes, wall-mounted TV panels, and "Star Trek" style doors.

The venue includes a 400-person downstairs ballroom, recording studio, and food service by chef Daryl Shular. Hardy praised Tucker city staff for their support and cited the building's unique architecture and 2,000 adjacent parking spaces as key factors in his decision.

Hardy, who moved to Atlanta in 1986 and runs maintenance company HVS Facilities, says the venue fills a need in Tucker.
