Tucker Today attends City Council meetings, so you don’t have to. Here’s the scoop from the February 12th, 2024 meeting:

1. Updated Sidewalk Design for Town Green

City Council approved a contract amendment that will impact Town Green construction. The amendment will include:

  1. Designs for a new sidewalk connection from the side of the park to Main Street (next to Local 7).

  2. Addition of construction administration — Town Green involves a complex plan so this ensures there will be inspections and oversight of contractors for timely progress.

City Council discussed the importance of ensuring this new sidewalk maintains proper line of sight for the safety of pedestrians.

What are you most excited about Town Green?

2. Lake Erin Dam’s long over-due makeover

Deferred maintenance on Henderson Park’s Lake Erin Dam has led to issues like seepage and overgrowth. City Council approved a new engineering contract to repair and bring the dam up to code.

Part of the design also includes the potential for adding trails that will connect with the Trail Master Plan.

3. A Win for Tucker’s Small Businesses

Tucker’s City Council approved the first read of an ordinance to make it easier for businesses to pay their occupation taxes to the city. This means we’re one step closer to eliminating unnecessary obstacles for small business owners and ensuring compliance with state law. A win for all!
