Stay in the Loop 💫
❄️ DeKalb County Opens Multiple Warming Centers as Cold Snap Hits
As winter temperatures drop, Tucker’s First United Methodist Church has opened its doors as a cold-weather shelter through January 12, offering overnight refuge from 7 PM-8 AM with check-in closing at 9 PM. Guests receive access to cots, bedding, showers, laundry facilities, and a hot evening meal.
Meanwhile, DeKalb County has activated four 24-hour warming centers across the region starting January 6:
Frontline Response International (2585 Gresham Rd.)
Toby Grant (593 Parkdale Dr.)
Mason Mill Recreation Center (1340 McConnell Dr.)
Exchange Recreation Center (2771 Columbia Dr.)
An additional overnight center is operating at North DeKalb Senior/Community Center (3393 Malone Drive, Chamblee), with transportation provided to other locations each morning. While fire stations aren't serving as warming centers, Avondale Fire Station No. 3 (100 N. Clarendon Avenue, Avondale Estates) is available as a pickup point for transportation to Frontline.
For more information about centers offered by DeKalb County and its community partners, visit www.dekalbcountyga.gov/weather.

Stay safe and warm, Tucker!

🆘 Tucker's Little Free Pantries Need Winter Stock-Up
As winter chills set in, Tucker’s four little food pantries are running low on supplies. These neighborhood lifelines need our help stocking up with warming comfort foods and cold-weather essentials.
If you're out shopping this week, consider grabbing some extra soup, canned veggies, cereal, snacks, or water to share. Hot cocoa mix and snacks can brighten someone's day, while warm gloves, knit caps, and scarves could make a real difference during these cold months.
Every donation, big or small, helps keep our neighbors cozy and cared for this winter season. Tucker Food Pantry Locations:
3142 Lawrencville Hwy
4127 Pine Valley Rd
2254 Henderson Mill Rd
4898 Lavista Rd
❌ Burger King's Four-Decade Run in Tucker Comes to an End
Tucker’s long-struggling Burger King on Lawrenceville Highway has finally closed its doors after serving Tucker for 40+ years. After years of declining service, health code concerns, and more than a few cold Whoppers, locals weren't exactly shocked by the closure, which follows recent shutdowns of nearby McDonald's and Wendy's locations.
While some are reminiscing about memories from this old fast food joint, others are buzzing with hopes that a Culver’s or Arby’s might snag the prime location.
What do you hope will take this spot?
