❌ Tucker City Council Pulls Pickleball Project After License Concerns

Updated Rendering | Source: City of Tucker, Decaturish
Tucker City Manager John McHenry announced at the May 12th city council meeting that the city will reject all proposals for building pickleball courts "at this time" after conducting due diligence on the contractor's qualifications.
"The original bids are now over six months old and questions remain concerning the proposed contractor's license. Should the City decide to move forward, the project will be rebid."
The council had been set to consider awarding a $3M contract to Complete Site LLC for a facility that would include 6 dedicated pickleball courts and 6 mixed-use courts, along with additional parking and stormwater runoff improvements for the recreation center.
Mayor Frank Auman pulled the contract from the agenda after resident Lyle Collins, a licensed contractor, raised concerns about Complete Site LLC's qualifications. Collins pointed out in an email that the company had submitted utility contractor licenses rather than the required general contractor license for the project.
"This license is not a General Contractor license in the state of Georgia," Collins wrote, explaining that utility contractor licenses are managed by a different state board than general contractor licenses.
It remains unclear whether the pickleball project will be reconsidered in the future.
