🪧 Thousands Rally in Tucker Against Immigration Enforcement
Around 2,000 people marched through Tucker this past Saturday in a demonstration organized by Pocketbook Brigade to oppose Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions.

The protest happened just hours after federal Border Patrol agents fatally shot Alex Pretti in Minneapolis—the second deadly encounter with immigration officers this month. Another person, Renee Good, was killed by an ICE agent earlier in January.
Local clergy turned out to support the march. Rev. Nancy Palmer Jones from the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Gwinnett said her faith teaches that everyone deserves dignity and respect. "When anyone's humanity gets questioned, it hurts all of us because we're deeply connected," she explained.
Rev. Cy Lynch of Trinity Baptist Church in Conyers said he came to stand up for all people. "God calls us to seek justice, show kindness, and stay humble—that's why I'm here," he said.
Marchers carried signs and crossed over I-285 on Lavista Road, drawing support from passing drivers during the demonstration.

❌ Tucker Shop Hit by Burglars Again, Community Steps Up
Nuttopia owner Shantell Reid woke up to devastating news Sunday morning—her Tucker candy store had been broken into for the second time in four months. Security footage shows three masked people smashing windows with bricks before ransacking the shop around 5 am.

The break-in left Reid questioning whether to keep her business in Tucker. "It's quite disheartening to know you've worked so hard to bring a business to a city, and the burglars have no heart that businesses are struggling right now," she said.
But the story took an uplifting turn. As Reid prepared to pay over $2,000 for glass repairs, a stranger walked in, pulled out his card, and covered the entire bill. "Nothing this good has ever happened to me," Reid shared on social media. "When this angel showed up today and paid this bill in full, I started crying."
The Tucker community rallied around Nuttopia throughout the week, with supporters streaming in to show their support. District 1 Councilman Roger Orlando confirmed Reid is now committed to staying in Tucker.
DeKalb County Police are investigating the burglary. Anyone with information can submit anonymous tips through the department's Tip411 app or by texting "DKPD" to 847411. A public safety town hall is scheduled for Feb. 2 at Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library.
Go out and show Nuttopia your support!
