🗣️ Tucker-Northlake CID Wants to Hear From You About Public Safety
The Tucker-Northlake Community Improvement District is asking residents, business owners, and visitors to weigh in on public safety through an anonymous survey running until Jan 31.
Your responses will help shape discussions with city and county officials about safety priorities and how resources should be allocated. The CID says the survey is part of a larger study looking at whether Tucker should create its own police department.
Right now, DeKalb County Police handles law enforcement in Tucker, which became a city in 2016. A recent feasibility study suggested Tucker could run its own department for about $10.7 million annually. DeKalb County, however, has pushed back on those findings, pointing out missing costs like pensions and recruitment expenses. The county also highlighted its own investments in policing, including better pay for officers, upgraded 911 systems, and plans for hundreds of surveillance cameras across the area.
The CID says this survey goes beyond official crime statistics—they want to hear about personal experiences and issues that may not get reported. "Some people are hesitant to speak up because they don't want to be seen as negative, but staying silent helps no one," the organization stated.
