👨🎨 Tucker Seeks Artist for Iconic Steel Sculpture at New Town Green
Tucker is looking to add an artistic touch to its $5.6 million Town Green project with a weather-resistant steel sculpture spelling out "TKR."

The artwork, planned for the former Cofer storage lot on Railroad Avenue, aims to celebrate the city's industrial heritage while creating an Instagram-worthy backdrop for visitors. The city is accepting proposals from artists, who don't need to be Tucker residents but should understand the area's history and community spirit.
Construction is actively underway, with significant progress made along Railroad Avenue. The 1.88-acre space will feature event spaces, parking, water features, play areas, a visitors plaza with shade, and a pavilion/performance area when completed in Fall 2025. 🙌

🛠️ Tucker Awarded $434K Contract for Lake Erin Dam Repairs

Tucker's City Council awarded a $433,620 contract to AECOM for engineering and inspection services on the Lake Erin Dam project at Henderson Park. The dam has been flagged for urgent repairs due to multiple deficiencies, including seepage issues and an inadequate outlet control structure.

📰 Key Updates from Feb 10th City Council Meeting
🙌 The city received a clean annual audit with no significant financial issues found
💰️ Council will hold a public hearing re: the city opting out of HB 581, though this would have no financial impact since the existing floating homestead exemption provides better tax relief
📈 The budget will be amended to reflect a $1M increase in revenue coming from additional business and occupation taxes; amendment also includes adjustments for hiring 18 Jacobs Engineering positions in-house
🌳 The Tucker Town Green project contract increased by $152K (bringing total to $5.6 million) to address unexpected water main issues
Heated opposition to the proposed pickleball complex at TRC continues, including litigation threats from Morgan Road neighborhood residents concerned about noise and light pollution

🛑 Tucker Hits Pause on New Drive-Thrus with 6 Month Ban
Tucker City Council unanimously approved a 6 month moratorium on new drive-thru businesses during their Feb 10th meeting. The measure came in response to increasing drive-thru window requests throughout the city.
Community Development Director Courtney Smith explained that the pause will give staff time to review and update regulations. Current projects in the permitting process, like the Dutch Bros Coffee planned for the old Sonic location on Hugh Howell Road, won't be affected by the moratorium.
