🗣️ Tucker to Vote on $3M Pickleball Court Contract After Heated Debate

Updated Rendering | Source: City of Tucker, Decaturish

Tucker City Council will vote May 12th on a $3M contract with Complete Site LLC for recreational improvements, including controversial pickleball courts. The proposal now includes six dedicated pickleball courts and six multi-use courts, plus a $73,317 noise reduction contract with Acoustiblok.

The project has sparked intense community debate. While initial support seemed strong when the $77K design contract was approved in March 2023, opponents living near the recreation center have voiced concerns about noise levels and even threatened legal action.

The city conducted sound studies and explored alternative locations before modifying plans. Besides pickleball courts, the project includes tennis courts, basketball facilities, sand volleyball, bocce ball, additional parking, and stormwater improvements.

The public meeting begins at 7 pm and will include time for community input. See the meeting agenda here.
